5 Tips to Celebrate the Fourth of July

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. It marks one of the greatest days in our country’s history, giving us lots of reasons to celebrate with friends and family! I’m sharing 5 of my favorite tips to celebrate the Fourth of July to help you enjoy this special holiday to the fullest!

Whether you’re hosting a large crowd or small one, these 5 ideas are simple and sure to help you create a fun and memorable holiday.

1.Decorate your Porch

Welcome your guests or just get into the spirit of the day by adding mini American flags to flower pots {they can be purchased at your local grocery or craft store or here}. Pin up flag banners under eaves with tacks as party banners. This will only take a few minutes and will create a dramatic, patriotic entrance to your home.

2. Create a Patriotic Centerpiece

Gather a collection of the same color vases from around your home. I used my collection of blue and white ginger jars, you could use white vases, or pitchers, clear vases, or even mason jars. In one vase or jar, add more of those mini American flags. In another, add some red roses or any red or white flowers. By grouping like items together, you instantly create a cohesive, impressive arrangement without much time or energy.

What summer party is complete without homemade lemonade? I shared this beautiful and delicious recipe for a homemade, Peach Raspberry Lemonade here. The vibrant coral red color is perfect for the red, white and blue colors of Independence Day, oh and it tastes amazing! You can purchase my favorite monogrammed goblets from Skyros Designs.

4. Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies

The Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe  Dessert and holidays go together like peanut butter and jelly! Can you think of anything more American than a chocolate chip cookie when it comes to homemade treats? You can find the recipe to The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie ever here! You will thank me later. After you try them, let me know what you think! I’m dying to know.

Our family likes freezing them, then adding a scoop of our favorite ice cream sandwiched between 2 cookies for the ultimate ice cream sandwich. You could roll the ice cream edges in red white and blue sprinkles to bring extra smiles to everyone’s faces.

5. Have some Fun in the Sun

Get outside and enjoy this beautiful country we live in! We love playing in the pool with our kids. If you’ve got a pool, the pool floats trending this year are so much fun! If you don’t have a pool, find someone who does and give them a float as a thank you gift! You can always go on a hike, take a bike ride, go on a picnic, just go go go!

Happy Birthday America! I hope you all get to enjoy fabulous food and create special memories this year. Thank you to all of the soldiers, service men and women and their families who sacrifice so much so we can live in the land of the free!
