5 Tips for a Fabulous New Year – Tip 2 – Organize Your Day

Life is busy! Somedays, it seems the tasks that need to be done out number the minutes actually in the day! With 5 young children, a busy husband and jobs of my own, the only way to get everything done is to be organized!!! Today I’m sharing my second tip in my 5 Tips for a Fabulous New Year series – Tip 2 – ORGANIZE YOUR DAY!!! You can catch Tip 1 here.

This tip will make your year fabulous because you will be in control of your time – in effect creating more time for fun and relaxation!!!

When I’m organized, I’m not running to the store for last minute dinner items or rushing out the door to a forgotten appointment. I’m calmer, more self assured and happier.

Organizing your day doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. It can actually be fun… let me show you how!

1 | Buy desk accessories that inspire you! You are much more likely to want to sit down and organize your day if you actually have “cute” supplies that you are excited about using.

2 | Select supplies that will help YOU be organized! Sounds like a no brainer, but what is on the shelf isn’t always what YOU need. Think about what your needs are and buy things that will help YOU.

Here’s how I like to organize my day. Maybe it will help you…

  • I keep a desk calendar on my desk for a quick date reference, no running to the kitchen to look at the calendar, or trying to find my phone for the date.
  • I use a menu notepad to organize my meals and give me a shopping list of items I actually need.
  • A weekly notepad that keeps my week at a quick glance.
  • My monthly planner helps me keep track of events all through the year.
  • A birthday/address book keeps me organized when it comes to special dates.

3 | Make a to do list the night before you go to bed. If I don’t do this, I lay in bed thinking about all the things I “can’t forget” the next day, and can’t get to sleep. I will make a to do list on a pad of paper, or even on my phone. This tip is my favorite to keeping myself focused and organized.

Here’s are some of my favorite office supplies that make being organized more stylish…

1 | Desk Calendar – I love this blush and gold one from Sugar Paper. I buy one every year!

2 | Stapler – I use this baby for everything from helping my kiddos with their homework to just staring at it’s cuteness!

3 | Gold Scissors – I’ve had these for years! They are gold. I don’t need to say anything else.

4 | Black, white and gold pens – cute pens are a must!

5  &  6 | Note Pads – I like to collect cute notepads and keep them in the kitchen, on my desk and by the computer. These are some of my favorite ones…

7 | Occasions & Contacts Planner – This is a new piece to my office this fall. I can’t tell you how much I love this book! Not only does it have a placed to keep all of your addresses, it also has a section for special dates. This will keep your birthdays, anniversaries and any other special day organized! Plus it’s adorable. Totally adorable.

I like to use my phone to help keep me organized too, but there is just something about writing things down that really helps me to remember!

When I sit down to plan out my week, I like to be comfy. Find a cute, cozy outfit, grab your stylish supplies and get planning! Your year is getting more fabulous by the minute.

I’ll see you soon with tip #3 for a fabulous New Year!

  1. I have recently discovered your beautiful blog through Kelley Nan. I love your style, and now I love your office! Love that desk, and that long bench is exactly what I will need when I set an office up for myself. I have two dogs, and they both want to be not on the floor next to me, but on my lap. When you are working that is not possible, so I have been thinking an upholstered bench would be perfect. Then I saw yours, and it is! Thank you for the inspiration.

    1. Monica I’m so happy you found me! Kelley is a dear friend of mine! Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you will come often! xo

  2. Randi, You inspire me in so many ways! Love your style as always, but your tips are spot on! I’m going to employ these to help me become more productive. Thanks for being such a love! XO ~ Julie

  3. Randi, I love your tips! I primarily use my phone to stay organized and I bought a planner this year but I need to get better about writing things down again so this was just the boost I needed!! Thanks for another tip filled post my friend!! Xoxo
