A Fall Entry Filled with Whimsy and Charm

A Fall Entry Filled with Whimsy and Charm

Welcome to our fall entry! When you step into our home this fall, you’re greeted by a soft cascade of gorgeous velvet Hot Skwash pumpkins tumbling down the curve of our staircase.

I have loved styling these works of art in our home for over a decade! Every year, I look forward to working with Daria, selecting a new color combination for fall. This year,  I chose shades of Seafoam and Lagoon this year—they feel fresh and unexpected, but still perfectly autumn. Hot Skwash features luxurious velvet pumpkins in dozens of colors with accent options like feathers and crystals. Each pumpkin features a real pumpkin stem hand signed in gold by artist Daria Knowles.

I wanted our entry to be the star of our fall decor this year. Hot Skwash pumpkins cascade down our stairs, they start larger at the base and grow smaller as they climb upward, winding through curly branches (I used one branch in between each step and one at the bottom for a total of 9 vines), that twist like vines. To bring in even more texture, I tucked in pinky peach magnolia stems (I used 10 – budget option here), faux sedum (I used 7), and a touch of golden wheat (I used 10 – mine is sold out, but this is similar). It’s a playful nod to nature with a little bit of magic sprinkled in. They look like they are growing on the vine! You could do this with any color pumpkin. See the sizes I used below.

Pumpkin sizes used on my stairs

Bottom Cluster

Seafoam – Luca, LE

Lagoon – JJ, 10″(2), 8″

Stairs

Seafoam – LE, Jumbo, JJ, 10″ (2),  8″ (2), 6″ (2)

Create the bottom cluster and for a more simplified look. Last year I placed one pumpkin on every other step and tied bows on the stems. See it here.

Fall Entry Table

On the entry table, a single Seafoam pumpkin trimmed with a delicate white feather collar (mine is size Jumbo) takes center stage. A Seafoam crystal pumpkin (size 5″) is nestled next to it to add another layer. Around it, I layered faux magnolia blossoms, blue blossom vines, eucalyptus, and wheat (similar) for a lush, abundant look. It feels like a fall garden gathered indoors, brimming with texture and charm.

Everyday Accessories Elevated for Fall

To carry the color story into the seating area, I dressed our French armchairs and antique settee with floral throw pillows and a blue cane throw pillows. A beautiful blue rug grounds the entire space, offering warmth underfoot. For a final touch of sophistication, I sprinkled in a few of my favorite accents—white ginger jars and sparkling crystal candlesticks—to add that timeless, collected feel.
