A Light & Fresh Summer Family Room Refresh
Summer is here, and our family room is all dressed up to welcome the sunshine and longer days! I wanted the space to feel light, relaxed, and happy—something that reflects the easygoing beauty of the season, while still feeling elegant and cozy for everyday living. So I brought in some fresh textures, soft patterns, and my favorite seasonal details to create a calm, charming space we love spending time in.
Summer Throw Pillows
This summer, the star of the room is definitely the mix of throw pillows! I layered chamomile printed pillows with classic buffalo check and crisp white linen pillows trimmed in decorative tape. The mix of prints and textures keeps things interesting without feeling too busy, and the color palette feels soft and sunny—just like summer should. My throw pillows are all 22″ with a 24″ insert.

Pillows for LessFaux Florals
To bring in a bit of the outdoors (without the upkeep!), I added a few faux floral arrangements. Clusters of snowball hydrangeas ( I used 6 stems) and sweet chamomile bunches (I used 12 bunches) bring a light, natural touch to tabletops. Their realistic look adds so much charm and freshness—plus, no wilting in the summer heat!
Ginger Jars
My signature blue and white ginger jars are sprinkled throughout the room to ground the space with timeless beauty. I love how the classic patterns pop against the soft white and pale neutral tones, adding just the right amount of contrast.
Summer Scents
To finish it off, I lit my favorite California Dream scented candle. It’s soft, coastal scent makes the whole room feel like a breezy summer escape. There’s something magical about a candle that transports you to a dreamy state of mind the moment you walk in.
This little seasonal refresh has brought new life to our family room. It’s light, airy, and full of charm—just the way summer should feel at home. I hope it inspires you to bring a little sunshine into your own space!
