A Whimsical Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower
This past weekend, I had the absolute joy of hosting a baby shower for a dear friend, and it was such a dream! We went with a whimsical hot air balloon theme, the whole celebration felt light, airy, and filled with love.
Whimsical Hot Air Balloon Centerpieces
At the center of the table, we displayed two stunning white wicker hot air balloons—one 28″ and one 18″. Each was brimming with faux peonies, pink ranunculus, and sweet chamomile. The arrangement instantly set the tone, creating a whimsical and magical feel. I made some sweet scalloped paper banners and hung them on the balloons.
To add a soft glow, I used these stunning glass candlesticks with battery-operated candles alongside rose-scented votives in pink vessels. Not only did they bring warmth to the room, but the delicate fragrance made the space feel even more inviting. The table was dressed with my favorite pink matelassé scalloped tablecloth, the scalloped detail is perfection.
The Menu
Of course, the food was one of the highlights! The shower was at 2:00 in the afternoon so we served light snacks on pink and gold scalloped plates. I pulled out all my white serving platters and cake stands to display an assortment of homemade treats:
-
Mini Pound Cakes dusted with powdered sugar and topped with tiny faux flowers– I used my Pound Cake Recipe and spread the batter into these mini bunt pans. Decrease the baking time to around 40 min.
-
Tangy lemon tarts – My friend used Trader Joe’s Pie crust and Trader Joe’s lemon curd to make the most delicious bite sized treats.
-
The mother-to-be’s favorite, My Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (tap for the recipe)
-
Italian Macarons with coconut lime, raspberry, and vanilla bean fillings- made by my sweet friend who is an amazing baker!
-
Fresh veggies with Dill Dip (tap for recipe)
-
Fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, pineapple and peaches) served with the most delicious Orange Cream Dip (tap for recipe).
To give each dish a little sparkle, I finished them all with a dusting of edible gold glitter (Disco Dust)—it made everything look as magical as it tasted!
Lemonade Bar
For drinks, we had orange-infused water in a gorgeous cut-glass dispenser and a fun lemonade bar. Guests could mix their drinks with real peach puree and strawberry puree and top them off with fresh basil and mint, all served from a gold bar cart. I love this stunning ice bucket that elevates your hosting! It was such a refreshing (and pretty!) way to keep everyone cool.
Take Home Gifts
One of my favorite details came from the mother of the bride, who generously gifted each guest a luxurious hand soap. We displayed them on my French bistro shelves—which I love to use for entertaining—layered over a pink and white runner. They doubled as both décor and a thoughtful parting gift.
Scalloped Banners
To tie everything together, I added pink scalloped banners across the doorway for a playful touch. The entire afternoon felt cheerful, intimate, and perfectly celebratory of the sweet baby on the way.
Hosting this shower was such a joy, and I loved seeing the way all the little details came together to create something so memorable.
The most stunning baby shower ever! Such a special day. Love you Randi!
