Welcome to a special post all about a special group of special men. Men who have put up with the crazy life of their Blogging wives. It isn’t easy being married to someone who is constantly styling and shooting your home. These guys are used to going to bed with the light of a laptop blaring in their faces. They don’t flinch when there are pumpkins on their porches in August. Good sports, that doesn’t even come close to how I would describe these patient blogging husbands. Today, they are sharing just what it’s like to be married to a blogger in a special “The Husband’s Tell All” edition here on RGD.
Today, I’ve joined a group 9 of my dearest blogging friends to bring you a series of interviews by our husbands. They each married a women they probably never dreamed would become a blogger and today they are telling all! Below you will read a series of questions each of our husbands were asked. Being a blogger’s wife is one crazy ride. Their answers may shock you! Sit back, relax and enjoy this behind the scenes look at what our poor husbands think about being married to a blogger. Happy Father’s Day to the most patient, supportive group of men!
At the end of this post you will find a full list of the 9 husbands {all married to a blogger} who are telling all!

Married to a Blogger – The Husbands Tell Go
When did you first meet your wife and what was your first impression?
I first met Randi at College (BYU). I was at a BBQ with some friends and we forgot the salt. I went to the nearest apartment and knocked on the door. Randi opened the door and I asked her if I could borrow her salt. I couldn’t believe how cute she was! She came to the BBQ and brought the salt! My first impression was that she was a happy, cute, blonde fun California girl! I knew instantly that I needed to get to know her better.
Later I found out, Randi had strategically picked that apartment because it was right next to the BBQ area. We’ve been married almost 21 years and have 5 children.
Which one of you more aggressively pursued the other?
I did. I asked Randi on a date a few times. She always had other plans or another date.
She was the hot item in our apartments. FINALLY after trying for a month or two she accepted to go on a date with me. We went out together and hit it off. We saw each other everyday after that.
*Oh my gosh! That is so not true! My mom was visiting when he asked me out the first time and the second I had other plans. I was praying he would ask me out again!!!
Matt and I when we were dating
What are the best and worst parts of your wife’s job as a blogger?
Best part is that she gets to spread her wings and pursue a career. She is such a giving person and has given 100% to her family. She still does give 100% to her children and me, however it has been wonderful to watch her follow her dreams and passion of design. Since she has started blogging she is a more confident person and much more well rounded. Blogging and Instagram have allowed her to use her talents and shine. Worst part was adapting to her busy schedule. All of us have had to learn to not be so selfish and demand her attention every second.
*I COULD NOT do this job without his love and support which he has given me 110%!!!
How do you explain what your wife does for a living to your friends and coworkers?
This can sometimes be difficult! It’s a full time job, but not a job anyone has really heard of before. I tell them that she has a design blog and instagram business that is centered around home design. She works with brands that want her to display their products. She also has a blog that she posts on with tips to live your life in style.
*I have a hard time explaining too!!!
What is something we might not know about your wife?
She has the cutest, fun personality. She is a ball of energy and a big tease. She is a night owl and doesn’t go to sleep a lot of nights until after midnight. Because she stays up late, she likes to sleep in! She also loves sports especially the Dodgers and Lakers.
What does your wife do that drives you crazy? What would she say you do that drives her crazy?
I hate the amount of pillows my wife has on the couch! To sit down, I move a few onto the floor and she plops them right back on the couch.
My wife hates it when I bite my nails. I could go a month without biting a nail, but the moment I bite one nail she sees it and says “you didn’t do that when we were dating, why are you doing it now?”
* Nail biting is disgusting! I don’t know what is worse, the thought of what is under those nails or the sounds it makes!!! I admit, I have a problem with pillows, and many other things he was too kind to mention! Here’s proof that there are a lot of pillows around the Garrett house! {click here to see more of this space}
If you had an extra $10,000 that you could do anything you wanted with (no saving, investing, or donating allowed!), what would you spend it on? Would your wife be on board?
I would spend it on a trip, probably to France! We have been twice and Randi’s love for France has rubbed off on me. I love France and would visit the South of France in a heartbeat again. Randi would be on board for sure.
*France has both of our hearts. We’ve been twice and I love love love it!
You get home from work and your wife is giving you “the look”. What have you most likely done to get yourself into trouble?
Most likely this would be something to do with me hiding something that broke or happened to the house. Our puppy Chloe, got out of her crate at night and peed on a rug in our den. I had convinced Randi to get Chloe, so I didn’t want to rock the boat! I tried to hide it by cleaning and scouring it with cleaner etc, in hopes that Randi wouldn’t notice. Some how, Randi stepped on the “wet” spot and called me asking why the rug was wet. Chloe and I were both busted!!!
*He was so worried, because I had threatened to send her back if there was any more accidents! I have never had a dog and really didn’t want one, but Chloe has worked her way into all of our hearts, and she is here to stay. See more about Chloe here.
What’s your favorite trip you have taken with your wife/family?
Favorite trip with Randi was to Paris and Avignon. It was so pretty and romantic.
Trip with our family is Lake Powell. We love to wakeboard and cruise on the lake with the kids and my brother’s family.
Do you have a “man cave” ? If so, where?
I have a gym upstairs. This is the closest thing to my man cave. Randi designed the gym. It is a man cave with touches of her glam design all over it. I am sure you will see it on the blog someday.
*I have a full tour and before + after planned soon! Here’s a little sneak peek!
What’s one thing that your wife is super “picky”/particular about?
Keeping the house clean!!! She sets a high standard and because of it we have a beautiful home that has a great feeling and special spirit within its walls.
What’s your favorite dinner that your wife makes? What is your specialty?
She is a great cook! I have many favorites, however I like her specialty pizzas the best. BBQ Chicken, and Pesto Chicken Alfredo Pizza.
I cook ribs that are Randi’s favorite. They are my brother’s recipe. Fall off the bone ribs!!! Incredible eats.
*I’ll do some summer cooking posts, sharing these recipes coming soon!
Are you a DIY-er or more of a “hire the professional” type of guy?
Hire a professional guy. Every so often I get the bug to do it myself. Not very often. My friend and neighbor Jared and I have tackled a few projects together. He ended up in the ER once and I with my hand stuck in a sprinkler.
What do you think about your wife’s blogger friends? Who do you hear about the most? Have you met any of them?
She has some incredible friends that are a huge strength to her. Their community of friends are wonderful for her. The relationships she has developed will be with her forever. I hear about all 9 of her closest ones and how much they love and support her all the time.
I know Jen from “Decor Gold” the best. She is Randi’s closest friend. We have spent time in Vegas with Jen her husband and Tony. They are wonderful people.
Has your wife ever done a project that you secretly didn’t love but you never told her?
Never! We have very similar taste. I love all her designs especially our bedroom {master bedroom tour here}.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Would your wife agree?
At the beach. She would totally agree with this! She is a beach girl. Most of our vacations are at Coronado beach in San Diego.
What’s your idea of the perfect Father’s Day?
The Entire day with my kids and Randi. Watching the Dodgers play on TV.Matt is one of the most supportive, kind hearted people I know. He is my best friend and my biggest cheerleader. I could NOT do what I do without his love, support and his humor. Our children are so blessed to have him as their dad.
I love you Matt, even when you bite your nails and knock the pillows off the couch!
