Over the years my mom has taught me countless things. I’m sure your mom has done the same for you. There are so many lessons and tips it’s hard to remember them all, but some just seem to stick with you. It’s those lessons that really impact your life. This Mother’s Day weekend, I want to share 5 things my mom taught me that will change your life.

Be Classy
My mom grew up on the east coast. She swore she would never raise her children on the west coast. Well all 6 of us were raised in Southern California!!! Her thinking was that the west coast was far too laid back. So, she was determined to raise her children to be classy.
When we flew on an airplane, we wore one of our nicest outfits. We would wear skirts or pants to school, until we moved somewhere it was too hot not to where shorts! We answered the phone, “Hello, this is Randi.” No one ate there food until the person who made it took the first bite. My mom taught me that little things mold you into a classy person.
Her example rubbed off on me. I prefer to be over dressed than under dressed. I tease that I would wear a dress and heels to grocery shop if it where more common!
Being a classy person means you care about yourself and those around you. Your words and actions elevate yourself and others. There’s a million ways to be classy. Be classy, it will change your life.

Celebrate the everyday
Each day truly is a gift.
My sweet mom taught me that in simple ways.
We ate on nice dishes just because. Sure there were many days we had paper plates with mac and cheese. I remember those special, random days when mom would set the table with nice dishes and we would eat something simple. I felt special. It’s the simples acts that show those you love, they are cherished.
Look for ways to celebrate the everyday in your home. Your life will feel more joyful. Start this weekend. Set a special table for your mom or someone you love. Here are a few shots of our family’s table to celebrate Mother’s Day for inspiration.
My mom also taught me to love ginger jars. So our Mother’s Day tables often showcase ginger jars! Find more of my favorite ginger jars here.

The plates and goblets are from one of my favorite companies, Arte Italica. Their dishes make every occasion more special! Whether it’s a big event or a simple dinner at home, a pretty plate makes your meal more fabulous!
Do things for other people
I couldn’t even begin to count how many times I saw my mom walk out our door with dinner, flowers or a small gift to brighten someone’s day. My mom taught me through her actions, not her words.
When I feel overwhelmed or sorry for myself, I try remember my mother’s example. Find someone who needs you and do something for them. Something magical happens, your problems don’t seem so big, your worries fade away and you are lifted from your kind act.
Do things for other people. It will make you a happier person.
If you can use a piece in more than one place in your home, it’s a good buy
This tip has saved me lots of money over the years!
If you find a piece you love for your home, always ask yourself, “Can I find multiple places to use this in my home?” If the answer is no, you should probably leave it where you found it.
My gold, lucite end table is a perfect example of something I used my mom’s tip when purchasing. I knew it would work in many rooms and places in our home. It was a good buy! I have used it in our bedroom, den and family room.
Buy pieces that are versatile, your wallet and husband will thank you!

You can have a beautiful home, with children
There were 6 children in my family growing up. We each had jobs to do each day. My parents taught us how to work and how to respect our home. Our house wasn’t perfect, but my parents had a neat and tidy home with nice things laying around.
My mom taught me that if you teach your children to work and be respectful, you an have a home that is beautiful.
I shared a blog post on how to have a beautiful home with children. There are lots of tips and ideas on how to involve everyone in your home.
So those are just a few tips that I learned from my mom. I hope they help you live your life in style. I love you mom! Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!

Randi~
You are a class act, my dear and so is your beautiful mother. She is certainly leaving her hand print on your heart and life is so many ways. And the beauty is that you are, I am sure, passing those same things along to your own children. It is these things that pull the heart strings of a family a little tighter.
Have a great day!
Deb 🙂
