Do you ever look at your home and find yourself wanting to change things, things that are perfectly fine all because you have an itch for change? An itch that can only be subdued with a creative, visual change, a makeover. When I get that sensation, I know that it is time to mix things up with a little refresh!
So, I got to thinking, I bet I’m not the only one who enjoys changing things up a bit around their house. Since not many of us can afford to redecorate every room in our home when we get that little urge, I thought I’d share a few simple tips I like to use to refresh a room. You can implement these tips in your own home to give it a fresh look for spring!
It’s been a little over a year since my daughter and I gave her bedroom a full makeover! Check out her full room makeover here. She still loves her bedroom, but we both got a little itch to change things up a bit for spring. So, a mini makeover was born and we switched a few things up a bit for a little spring refresh.
I’ve been crushing hard on all things blush and lace lately. So this became my inspiration for this mini makeover.
Here is how we took her pink and gold bedroom and turned it into a blush pink and lace bedroom with a mini makeover!

When decorating your home, select furniture pieces that are timeless and neutral. This will allow you to refresh your home with just a few inexpensive changes. Whenever I look at switching things up in my home I rarely swap out pieces of furniture! Instead, I look to trends in design and fashion and try to incorporate them into my rooms through fabric and accessories.
Blush and lace are all the rage in fashion and design these days. In my daughter’s room we swapped out her leopard throw pillows and gold polka dot sheets for a blush throw and lace pillowcases and dust ruffle. We tucked the old pillows and sheets away for later.
Try trading a few of your bedding pieces out for something new! A new color, pattern, or fabric can give your room a totally different feel!
You may remember this blush throw from our mini guest room makeover {click here to see the makeover}! It is seriously the most luxurious throw. The color is gorgeous. Therefore you may see one appear in every room in our house! I have the ivory one draped over the couch in the family room too.
The cream lace pillow cases were also featured on my bed this spring {click here to view the tour}
They are absolutely stunning and the coordinating dust ruffle is breathtaking. Two Big Ruffle Pillows were added to the back of the bed. Ruffles and lace look amazing together! All of the new pieces are from my favorite linen company Pom Pom at Home. Their linens are my favorite! The quality is phenomenal. Their company is a family owned and run. I highly recommend them for bedding pieces you want to have forever.
The leopard chair was fancied up with a fluffy, white fur pillow.
Changing out your drapes doesn’t have to be expensive! There were pink silk drapes in this room. I simply flipped them around to the lining side and they went from a powder pink to a really light, beautiful blush color! If your drapes are lined you can do the same thing! Or purchase some inexpensive drapes that you can use with various color schemes.
Mini fresh bouquets were added to the mirrored nightstands and on here bookshelf. Once fresh flowers die, try switching them out for some faux bouquets that will last the rest of the season. Flowers are my go to tip to brighten any room in your home! You can find flowers to match any color scheme and any style. Bringing in a little of natures beauty gives a room a life that can’t be achieved any other way.

Love all of it but that bedskirt is AMAZING!!!! I’m thinking I might need to have one!!!!!! And I love the idea of turning the curtains inside out for a lighter shade. It’s all very pretty and feminine.
Hi Elizabeth! You definitely need one! It is even more stunning in person! Thank you for your sweet comments! Have a wonderful day. xo
Looks beautiful! Very elegant and feminine!
Thank you so much Valerie. xo
Hi Randi just wondering how old your daughter is I have a 12 year old and I wish her room would look this good and organized we do have some great things in her room but the homework and clothes seem to over run her room. Thanks for giving me hope that it could one day look like this.
Hi Jony! My daughter is almost 12. She has always been very neat and tidy. I think she inherited that trait from her clean freak mother! Having a room that she helped design and loves, helps her want to keep it nice too. I am sure your daughter will improve the older she gets. What a wonderful mom you must be! Have a lovely day! xo
Such a beautiful update! It seems to give your sweet girl a slightly older look too! I love what you did with your beautiful new Pom Pom at Home pieces! xoxo
Thank you so much my sweet friend! I can’t believe she is getting so big! xo
