“We got a puppy,” four words I thought I would never say!!! Raising 5 children is crazy, but SO rewarding. Throwing a puppy into the mix would have sent me over the edge. At least that is what I always thought! For years, my husband and the kids have begged for a puppy. For years, I have resisted! “I can’t handle ONE more thing to feed and take care of! ”
Well, this year my youngest went to kindergarten. Life is still crazy but the kids are more self sufficient and responsible.
A few months ago, my brother was visiting and told us about the puppy he was getting. My kiddo’s begging started again and my husband started to search for a puppy.
He would show me pictures of darling puppies. I would smile and shake my head. Then one morning, Matt showed me this picture of a darling, ginger colored, mini Labradoodle puppy…

Something happened. Something deep inside me whispered, this is your puppy. As crazy as it sounds, I just knew she belonged in our family. We began the process of making her ours.
Meet Chloe, our mini Labradoodle…
Since I have never had a puppy, we decided that sending her to puppy training would ensure the best possible experience for all of us. We visited her every week until she was ready to come home.
Last Monday Chloe came home! She is the sweetest, most mild mannered puppy. To make her homecoming more comfortable, we made sure to have some special things waiting for her. Our home “looks” like it isn’t child or pet friendly, when in actuality it is totally kid and pet safe! We have chosen fabrics that are durable and resilient. You can read about how we created a livable and beautiful family room here.
I didn’t want the items we got for Chloe to stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, I wanted them to blend into our home. We found a dog bed, dog crate, puppy gate and puppy toys that all coordinate with the look and feel of our home. Proof that you don’t have to sacrifice form for function with pets either! I know you will love these puppy essentials too.
Essential No. 1 – Puppy Furniture – Doggie Bed
Finding a bed that looked like it belonged in our home wasn’t easy. When we found this french style dog bed, we were so excited! It is perfect for Chloe and our home.
Essential No. 2 – Puppy Gate
Containing your puppy can be fashionable! Use this designer gate to keep your puppy out of rooms you don’t want them exploring quite yet. This gate looks beautiful and has been essential for us to keep Chloe out of rooms we don’t want her in yet. The gate has hinges so it can fit numerous size door frames.
Essential No. 3 – Fashionable Puppy Crate
A puppy crate is essentail. Chloe loves to climb into hers and have some peace and quiet away from the kids. Look at this chic crate we found that makes us as happy as it does her!
Chloe has made herself right at home and we can’t image life without her!
More Puppy Essentials you & your puppy will love
I hope these essentials help you and your sweet puppies live your life in style! Chloe completes our family, I am so happy to share this exciting journey with all of you!
Oh sweet Randi, your story is so similar mine…….
I have never grown up with dogs and never really wanted one but by my husband and daughter did. Since she is an only child, I gave in four years ago to our beautiful Australian Shepherd, Pearl!! I swore she would be an outside dog but the minute we bought her home my heart softened, and like you we did all the training and to this day Pearl is an indoor dog, however she has never put a paw on our carpeted areas and never been on beds or the lounge even if you coax her to come, she won’t. Our home is also open plan, so she still feels close to us and is a big part of our family and with Lilijana they are the best of friends!!
You have a BIG heart and Chloe will love you all so much!!! Enjoy these precious moments my friend and thank your for sharing.
