My friend Kelley Nan and I have gathered a group of some of our favorite bloggers to create the ultimate Mother’s Day tablescape tour for you! If you’ve come from my friend Erin’s classy, bright home, welcome to my Mother’s Day tablescape and brunch!
As a little girl, my brothers, sisters and I would wake up extra early on Mother’s Day to make a special breakfast to celebrate my mom on Mother’s Day. It was our way of showing her how much we loved and appreciated all that she did for us the rest of the year. We would pick flowers from my dad’s garden and place the food carefully on a tray and carry it lovingly into her bedroom.
At dinnertime my mom would set a fancy table to eat a nice dinner as a family. My sisters and I would help out in the kitchen. Those traditions sparked in me a desire to share my love for others through food and place settings.
Fast forward 20+ years, our family has carried on those same traditions. My children rise early to make a special brunch for me and I set a tablescape to celebrate the day. This year I want to share our Mother’s Day tablescape and brunch with you in hopes that you can start some new traditions with those whom you love.
I love pink and gold. They just might be my favorite color combination. Together they are girly and glamorous. While looking for inspiration for my Mother’s Day table, I came across these blush pink plates and bowls with gold rims from Anthropologie, they became my inspiration for this year’s pink glam table. When you find yourself designing a tablescape, look for an inspiration piece to start with, then build your table around that element.
Although I used this tablescape for Mother’s Day, it could be used for any occasion throughout spring and summer. It would be fabulous as a wedding brunch, baby shower, birthday gathering or a just because lunch with friends.
I wanted the centerpiece to be impressive, but simple. Gold lanterns in various sizes make perfect, unexpected vases for the flowers and create a dramatic statement on the table. I placed a small canning jar in the lantern and filled it with pale pink roses, baby hydrangeas, and green cloud sage clippings from my neighbor’s yard. Candles were placed in the other lanterns. They look difficult, but they were SO simple! Any one can do this!

When my husband and I got married, my mother in law shared many of her favorite recipes with me. One of our family’s favorite is what we call, Sunday Family Pancake. It’s really a German pancake. It sounds fancy and complicated but it is quite the opposite! In fact it is so simple to make, my children love to make it by themselves for our Mother’s Day brunch.
The pancake fluffs up to a beautiful, golden pancake cloud. After you remove it from the oven, it collapses a bit into a gorgeous crepe like treat. The butter caramelizes on the outer crust and leaves it crispy and delicious! I am totally making myself hungry just thinking about it! We like to serve ours with fresh berries, a splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Ruby Red grapefruit look absolutely stunning paired with this recipe and displayed in these dishes. While in New Orleans on a trip, we were served grapefruit with caramelized sugar on top that were out of this world. I used that same technique here by sprinkling a little sugar on top of the Ruby Reds and placing them under the broiler until they caramelized. They are just as tasty as they are beautiful. Give it a try!
A sprig of fresh mint and a few fresh raspberries fancy her up even more.
