Summer is the time of year when we spend the least amount of time at home. Our family is out enjoying the sun and trying to celebrate non – school days to the fullest. I enjoy adding summer touches that make our home feel more bright and cheery by adding simple, fresh touches to each room.
Our usually all white master bedroom, got a dusting of pink for a fun summer pop. Fresh peonies, pink velvet pillows {made from an darling Etsy shop in Hungary}, and my favorite blush throw from Lands Down Under, give our room a summer kissed glow.
Mini olive trees in aged terra-cotta pots {similar found here} down the center of our dining table, give our room a more relaxed feel for summer, sending our thoughts to the gorgeous Tuscan hillsides of Italy. See how adding fresh greens can totally transform the feel of the room?
The office rug got switched out for a lighter one to brighten the room for summer. White fur pillows also help illuminate the room.
Heavier throws were tucked away, and these light weight throws were draped on the couches. They provide the perfect amount of comfort while snuggling into a summer movie.
Neutral buffalo checked pillows were added to the couch. They give a playful nod to summer picnics. You may have noticed the buffalo check trend in the design and fashion world this season.
A weathered gray tray and coral picked up on our trip to Maui, create a simple, beachy vignette.
Fresh flowers instantly bring the outside in! They are my favorite way to decorate for any season. I also use faux flowers mixed in with fresh to save money and time. You can read some of my tips for mixing fresh and faux flowers in your decor here.
These gold lanterns have been such versatile spring and summer accessories! Â I have used them as vases here, for outdoor decor here, and now as an elegant, simple grouping in my summer entryway.
When looking for pieces for your home, think about where and how you can use the pieces. If you can use them in numerous ways, and in numerous places, then the purchase is probably a good one.
