Soothing Summer Home Tour 2017 – Neutral Transitional Home Decor

As a little girl,  summer meant weeks of relaxing from everyday cares. It meant playing on the beach and daydreaming with a cool cup of lemonade in hand. Life just seemed to slow down and focus on simple pleasures. In one word summer was calm. As the years have sped by, summer is busier than those carefree childhood days.  Instead days are filled running kids to camps and hitting the road for trips. It feels anything but calm!

To help recreate those slow summer days, I have styled our home in soft beachy colors that sooth the soul.

I’ve teamed up with one of my dearest friend, Jen from Decor Gold Designs, to bring you our soothing summer home tours. We will be taking you on a tour of our homes styled for summer.

I believe summer decor should be simple and carefree, helping to create that soothing summer feeling!

My mom collects blue and white dishes and ginger jars. Her whole home is sprinkled with this classic combination. I love to add a splash of blue and white to our home every summer because it reminds me of home.

Blue and white is a hot design trend right now, but it is a timeless tradition that is always in style.

You can create a similar look in your home by grouping your favorite blue and white pieces and displaying the on a table or shelf.

To create a soothing feel in our kitchen, I kept the decor simple and fresh.  More blue and white ginger jars and some fresh fruit give our kitchen a relaxed summer feel.

Since my last home tour in the spring, I’ve added some new head chairs to the breakfast table. They give a nice weight to the table.

To create a summery feel in here, I used fabric. Soft, muted tones that make you feel like you are laying at the beach. Hues of creams and grays give this room a soothing feel.

Those soft beach shades were continued into the living room with more pillows. You can add a few accessories to a room and it will take on a totally different feel. See how adding some coral and some earthy elements like a geode, make the room feel more like a beach home.

So the dining room doesn’t get much action in the summertime. We are outside or on the go most days. I simply added these blue and white ginger jars with some gorgeous pink peonies and blush colored roses for a touch of summer.

These flowers are fresh, but you could use faux to create a lasting look for summer.

Try changing a few piece of your linens out to create a fresh look for summer. All I did to refresh our bedroom for summer was add some blue velvety pillows and trendy antelope bolster from this darling pillow company – Little Design Co.  Their pillows are the BEST quality and they have so many fun patterns to chose from.

Here’s another way I styled our master bedroom. for summer.  I just added a new duvet, pillows and some blue and white ginger jars to transform the room. You can see more photos of our summer styled bedroom here.
