No. 1 Vacuum

Yep. Simply vacuum. You will be amazed at how good your room feels by doing this simple chore! My favorite vacuum for the past 13 years has been Dyson. I have a larger upright for my carpets and rugs and a cordless Dyson for my wood floors. Here’s a link to my exact one and a similar one. I love, love, love them! You can find fabulous ones that have been refurbished on eBay for a fraction of the cost. Buy them there new too! Did you know eBay has a huge selection of everything you need to get your home holiday ready and has free shipping on thousands of items. It’s a great way to find all the things you need in one place!

Don’t just vacuum the floor. Use your wand attachments to vacuum the baseboards and ceiling and floor vents. The brush head attachment is my favorite for upholstery! Vacuuming will make your guest room sparkle! It will only take a few minutes to do, but will make a huge difference!!!

No. 2 Use Nice Sheets

No one wants to sleep on sheets that feel like sandpaper, look ratty or smell like mothballs. Invest in a good set of sheets you can use just for company. Wash them right before you make the bed, or spritz them with some fabric spray so they smell fresh and clean.

I love these white ruffle sheets. We have had them in our guest bedroom for almost 5 years. If your budget allows, get 2 sets so you can rotate them, making the last even longer.

No. 3 Provide an Alarm Clock

All nice hotels provide an alarm clock for guests. It is the worst to wake up at night and not know what time it is. My husband and I stayed in a place that had this amazing alarm clock with plugs for your phone and all kinds of bells and whistles. We bought one for our guest bedroom the moment we got home.

It features a nightlight, plug to charge your phone and speaker for your music, plus it looks cool! Ours is tucked behind our garland. I love how small and discrete it is!

No. 4 Lay out Towels

Freshly washed and folded towels laid out on the bed for your guests is a simple, luxurious touch. Spray these with some linen spray as well to give them that extra fresh feeling. I like to have a separate set of towels that only guests use. This was they stay new and clean for longer. My mother in law always has the best towels when we come to visit. They have a waffle texture and are soft and smell amazing. I took a tip from her and picked up some waffle patterned towels for our guest bedroom.

Fill a small basket with essentials that your guests may have forgotten. Think basics. Things you need to make your place a little more like home. My basket is filled with essentials like a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, razor, dental floss, lotion, water bottles, phone charger and the wifi code. 1. Beautiful guest room! I can’t seem to find the source for the chandelier in this room, would you mind sharing? Thanks!

    1. Hi Amanda! If you visit the tab “my home” – room sources – you can click on any room you would like to know sources for and they are all listed for you! I hope that helps! xo
