5 Simple Outdoor Summer Entertaining Tips
1. Give your outdoor space a good cleaning
Every party feels better when the venue is nice and tidy. Hose off your patio, sweep off the deck, brush down your cushions and clean your windows. This should only take you about 20 min. Enlist your kiddos to help out. Give a kid a hose and the world is a better place! For some reason, they just love them! Put that energy to work for you! Once everything is sparkling, you can add the special touches.

2. Serve something simple and elegant
You don’t have to spend hours slaving away in the kitchen to serve a delicious spread for your guests. Keep things simple and elegant.
Try serving some brie cheese with some blackberries. Dress up the berries with a bed of fresh mint. Complete this simple, yet elegant dish with some good quality crackers. Drizzle some honey over the cheese for a little more flavor. Notice this pretty little appetizer is served on this pink salt block. Salt blocks can be used to enhance flavor while grilling or cooking meat.
Use them like I did, as a cheese tray or for a simple fruit tray to enhance the flavor. I love the pink color and the look of stone. It is a simple, unexpected treat for your guests. What a great conversation piece too! My sweet mother in law introduced them to me!

3. Make a refreshing summer drink
Serve something refreshing to drink! A few summers ago, my husband and I had the best lemonade of our lives! It was a cucumber mint lemonade from the Hotel Del Coronado {where we honeymooned}. It about knocked our socks off!
You can recreate this fabulous, simple drink for your guests by following the recipe below…
Simple Cucumber Mint Lemonade From the Kitchen of Randi Garrett
Ingredients
- 1 Bottle Simply Lemonade {original flavor}
- 1 Lemon sliced
- 1 Bunch fresh mint
- 1 Cucumber thinly sliced
- Ice
Instructions
- Pour the Lemonade into each glass.
- Add a few lemon and cucumber slices.
- Wash mint and add a few leaves to each glass.
- Toss in a few pieces of ice.
- You can make this ahead and let the flavors really meld together, or pull it together just before serving.

4. Put together simple summer floral arrangement
Flowers just make any occasion. They do not have to be complicated to be beautiful! Grab a few bunches of your favorite flowers from your local grocer and create a simple arrangement to brighten your party. Ginger jars are my favorite vase especially during the summer. This floral ginger jar is my favorite!

5. Add fun pillows and linens
Just like pillows warm up a space inside, they cozy up a space outside. Since our color scheme outside is neutral, I chose pillows with a lot of texture. Like these outdoor lumbar tassel pillows and these square tassel throw pillows.
Use linens to add a pop to your table too. It’s the simplest way to add some pizzaz!
I love pink and blue together! When I found these blue and white eyelet napkins, I feel in love and knew they would be perfect for summer entertaining. Instead of using a table cloth, I used a square table topper with tassels to soften the ottoman. The tassels play off the tassels in the throw pillows. I plan to use it on my kitchen table for summer.
Last tip, share your beautiful outdoor space with someone special! My husband and I like to sneak out here for few quiet seconds before the kids realize we are missing! Summer entertaining doesn’t have to be a throng of people. It can be you and someone you love. Make the most of your summer entertaining and make it beautiful!
