Do you keep things the same in your house for every season? Do you like to switch things up a lot? I am a switch things around with every season kind of a girl. Each season, I like to freshen our bedroom by switching things up. Since we live in a place where there are really only two seasons, switching things up inside helps make it feel more like a new season. This summer I am sticking with the color scheme I used in our summer home tour to create a pink + blue summer bedroom.
In the winter we create spaces that are cozy and warm. The summer we crave comfort and relaxation. Here in Arizona, anything light and airy is the key to creating a comfortable summer bedroom.
No matter the season, I use 3 simple steps to help welcome the season into our bedroom. These steps will help you create a summer bedroom that will keep you comfortable and relaxed!

First…
Add light and bright linens to your bed
Select linens for your bed that are light in weight to help keep the temperature perfect while you sleep durning those warm summer nights. Choose pieces that make you happy. Last year, I used blue and white as my color theme {see last year’s blue and white summer bedroom}. I love blue and white so every time I came into my room I was SO happy! This year, I used the pink and blue color scheme I used for our summer home tour. The pale pinks and blues remind me of a beautiful beach sunset. When I saw these blue and white buffalo checked shams, they reminded me of summer picnics as a little girl.
My white linen diamond quilt serves at the backdrop for the bed. Soft, cool sheets with a pale pink trim add a fun pop to the bed. I also kept the same pink velvet basketweave euro pillows from our spring bedroom.
Keep the throws and blankets light in weight. I used a light weight blue matelasse coverlet at the end of our bed and a pink pom pom throw.
Sprinkle the room with coordinating accessories
Don’t over do it! Summer decor is meant to feel light and airy. Sprinkle some coordinating accessories around your room to give it a fresh look.
Some ideas for simple summer accessories
- Ginger jars. In our summer home tour I use a lot of blue and white ginger jars. To carry that look throughout the house, I added a few to our bedroom.
- A summer scented candle. Find a scent you love, leave the lid off and let the yummy scent fill your bedroom. I love the this rose candle
- Use pretty books to add color to your summer bedroom.
- Add some art! My sweet friend Georgianna from Georgianna Lane sent me some pink and blue art prints from Paris for our summer bedroom. In our spring bedroom I used all white art prints in a curated collection. I love adding art to a room. It gives it meaning and warmth.
Use flowers to add a pop to your summer bedroom
Whether you use fresh or faux flowers, flowers will add a special summer pop to your summer bedroom. I like to mix fresh and faux. Every week, I will run to the grocery store and grab at least one bunch of fresh flowers to add to our bedroom. I also mix in a few faux ones. This way when we are out of town and come home, there is something bright and happy to welcome us home.
Here are a few faux options that are amazing…

I love seeing your designs. They are always so pretty and elegant. I have on question on the summer bedroom today. Why did you keep the fur rug and fur pillow for a summer look?
Thank you for your comment Elaine. I love the fur for any season, so I keep it year round. It adds a softness to the room. xo
