One of my favorite holidays of the year is the 4th of July. My birthday is in July, I have always loved sharing a birthday month with our country. Gathering with family and friends to enjoy the sunshine, good food and celebrate freedom all make this special holiday one of my favs.
To help you celebrate this year, I thought I’d share some simple, patriotic entertaining ideas you can put together in no time! Adding simple, festive details help make any gathering, more fun and memorable.

Simple Patriotic Entertaining Ideas
Here are some of my favorite, simple patriotic entertaining ideas to help you throw the perfect, no fuss gathering this summer.
- Set up a buffet – In classic, summer style, I love to set up a buffet to serve when I entertain for the 4th.
- Style with red, white and blue linens – Use this cute, red and white buffalo checked runner to dress up your island or table. Then use this versatile wooden tray lined with a bandana to serve your favorite cookies or treat.
- Create a s’more station – A galvanized tiered tray makes the perfect server for a s’mores station. Tie a bandana around the top to give it a special touch. I used ramekins to hold my graham crackers and lined the other layers with small paper doilies.
- Dress up your drinks – Use this cute drink dispenser to serve your favorite drink. Mine is holding strawberry lemonade with fresh mint and blueberries. Adding fresh fruit to water, lemonade, juice or soda, take an ordinary drink to the next level. Try placing your dispenser on a cake stand to dress it up even more.
- Use canning jars as glasses – I love the casual feel these jars give to your summer gathering.
- Put together a simple floral arrangement with mini flags – Use a blue and white vase, fill it with a fresh or faux floral arrangement. Then tuck in a few mini flags for a patriotic feel.
Simple Patriotic Table Ideas
- Use a blue and white tablecloth to set the scene.
- Set the table with white, red or blue dishes for a festive feel. I love these blue goblets to complete the place setting.
- Pattern Play with napkins. I love these red and white buffalo checked napkins to add more pattern to the table.
- Make a simple centerpiece. I used a blue and white vase and filled it with some faux poppies. A few mini flags tucked into a smaller vase adds even more whimsy to the table.
