If this is your first time here, I would love for you to look around awhile and come back often! My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years and have 5 wonderful kiddos. I love design, fashion and entertaining. Here on RGD, you will find lots of tips for living life in style.
Spring is literally knocking on our front door here in Arizona. It is bitter sweet for me. Sweet because the weather is perfect, and everything is in bloom. Bitter because that means we are closer to the long, hot Arizona summer! Let’s just focus on the sweat, I mean sweet!
This year, I wanted to give our porch a bright, cheery look for spring, different from our normally neutral porch {here}. The front porch is one of my favorite places to decorate for the seasons because it doesn’t take much to make it feel warm and welcoming, festive and fun.
Today I’m sharing my 3 favorite ways to brighten your porch for spring.
1. Hang a Fabulous Wreath
I looked and looked for inspiration for a spring wreath. When I saw this pink peony and cherry blossom wreath from an online store, I knew it was the one! I clicked on the wreath and realized it was not available anymore!!! So, I decided I would try to recreate it on my own. I’ll be sharing a tutorial on how I made it later this week.
Why you should make your own wreath
- You can create exactly what you want
- No one else will have exactly what you have
- It’s easier than you think
If you’re not ready to tackle making your own wreath, I’ve sourced a few of my favorite already to hang wreaths for you {affiliate links used for your personality}…
2. Add a doormat with personality
I’m embarrassed to say that our last doormat was purchased the week we moved into our house… 10 years ago! It was too small for our door, but it is one of those things that you just never think about replacing. I’m reminding you to replace it!!!! Don’t wait 10 years like I did!
When buying a doormat – use these tips
- Buy one that is as wide or wider than the width of your door.
- Read reviews about the durability of the mat. You don’t want one that will shed, or wear poorly.
- Find one that fits your style.
3. Plant flowers that coordinate
Chose flowers that match with the color scheme of your porch. This will give your porch continuity and style! Pink was my color of choice to brighten our porch, so I chose matching pink geraniums to tie in with the wreath. After I shot these photos, I picked up some light pink, white and hot pink geraniums and added them to the base of our potted rose trees. They look like a little ombre garden.
Fabulous Pots for those new flowers…
Finish off the look by adding outdoor lanterns and candles with timers.
This one tip will add a special feel to your porch. It will make it feel more inviting and cozy. Make sure to use outdoor candles so they don’t melt!!! These candles are my favorite. I have two different style lanterns. Two really large gold lanterns and two medium sized lanterns.
