Welcome to 5 days of Halloween! For 5 days, I will be taking you on a tour of our Halloween house.  Follow along for lots of ideas on how to decorate and celebrate this fun holiday at your house. Halloween is a big deal in our home! I love to decorate with the playful, carnival side of Halloween. The bobbing for apples, cake walk, yummy caramel apples, the warm, fuzzy kind of a Halloween. A classic Halloween.

To welcome guests to our house this season, I set a classic Halloween porch and entry table. Come take a peek…

Make your front porch a fabulous focal point! Gather large pumpkins, real and faux. Arrange them by on either side of your door. We have a few lighted jack-o-lanterns that turn on when the sun goes down.

Hang a festive wreath on your door. I love this simple, black stick wreath {here}, tied with a black and white buffalo checked ribbon {here}. Super simple and reminiscent of autumn trees bare for the fall.

I made pennant flags that read, 31 and spooky, in gold glittered letters. Then I stuck them into my flower pots and gave one to Mr. Bones to hold.

To make these…

  • Buy some black pennants at your local craft store.
  • Cut out words or numbers on glitter paper of felt and glue them to the pennants.
  • Staple the pennants to a wooden dowel.
  • Stick them into pots or planters for a fun Halloween decoration.

Also, I made these simple, scalloped, felt banners to hang above your door.

In order to make these banners…

  • Trace 8″ circles on black and white felt.
  • Cut out the circles.
  • Fold them in half to create a half circle or scallop.
  • Measure a piece of ribbon or twine {as long as you want the banner to be}.
  • Slide the ribbon or twine into the center of each circle or scallop.
  • Hot glue around the edges of each semi circle. You can also sew them together.
  • Hang them up! I attached mine with tacks into the ceiling.

What is more classic Halloween than a skeleton?! My kids LOVE our Mr. Bones and his pet bull dog {here}. We dress him up every year. This year he is wearing a buffalo checked bow tie and gold polka dot party hat. Try this! It is such a fun and simple tradition. Buy a skeleton {here} for your house! Your family will love coming up with ways to “dress” your skeleton!

A few Halloween throw pillows help cozy up the bench. My friend actually makes these awesome Halloween pillows every year!

Since we live where the leaves don’t change colors or fall off the trees, I added a few faux fall leaves to our entryway. It really makes it feel more like fall! So there you have it, a timeless Halloween porch!

Inside, our entry table is peppered with the gold lanterns I’ve used all summer. Try grouping lanterns for an impressive grouping. There is strength in numbers! I wanted this table to feel like classic Halloween, but to also feel whimsical and unique.

I found orange and black feather butterflies and wound them around my lantern handles. This added instant whimsy!

Next, I tucked a few classic black crows around.

I left my pillar candles outside on a hot summer day, on purpose… to let them melt and look spooky.

A black feather wreath {here}, with a few more black and orange butterflies, finish off the arrangement.

My favorite classic Halloween decoration is this pair of witch’s boots {similar here}, I found on a shopping trip with my mom. They scream classic Halloween!
