Backyard Patio Party - Final Graphic-2

If you’ve come from Haneen’s gorgeous, colorful patio, welcome to our bright summer patio tablescape! Our patio has a covered overhang where we enjoy meals al fresco almost year round. Sitting outside, surrounded by the greenery from our trees and shrubs makes you feel like you are in California, rather than the Arizona desert.

Summer Patio Party

Take a seat at my table and I’ll walk you through how you can recreate this simple, summer table for your summer get togethers.

  • First, cover your table with a neutral tablecloth. I chose a pale pink linen cloth {a detailed source list is included at the end of the post}.
  • Next add some wrapping paper as a table runner. This is one of my favorite design tricks. It protects your tablecloth and gives your table some pizzaz. It also allows you to use the same tablecloth over and over with a fresh look every time!

  • Create a memorable centerpiece by combining vibrant hot pink and peachy orange roses. For a nod to summer’s iconic lemonade, place lemons on wooden skewers and nestle them into the roses. I used an oversized Mason jar for a vase.

  • To soften the table, fresh eucalyptus was placed down the center. You can use any  type branch that you can get your hands on.

  • Pale pink goblets. I have nothing else to say. Get some! Mini San Pellegrino’s match the green in the wrapping paper and serve as a luxurious alternative to tap water.

  • Since we are dining outside, I used my absolute favorite melamine plates. They look so much like real china!
  • Gold chargers add a sparkle and elegance to the table.
  • Leopard napkins with silver bow napkin rings top the place setting off. I love mixing floral and animal print, even in my fashion {you can see more here} I used cloth napkins, but you could absolutely use paper. There are some awesome paper options out there.

  • I always like to add a little something special at each place setting. These mini cloches with raspberry macaroons also tied in the pink from the centerpiece.

Coconut Sherbet Cake

  • When you are planning what to serve at your party, always envision how it will look with your tablescape. Select foods that will compliment the color scheme and theme of your table {you can see other examples of that here and here}. When planning this table I thought of one of our family’s favorite summer recipes. It is a sherbet dessert and the colors work perfectly with my table.

Coconut Sherbet Cake

This recipe is especially sentimental at our house because my mom served it to both of our family’s the night before we got married.

It’s a light and gorgeous dessert that you can put together in minutes. It’s lovely to serve at bridal and baby showers too. I’ve included the recipe below.
