Thanksgiving dinner is the most anticipated meal of the year – at least at our house! Dishes that are only served once a year will make their debut. Family and friends who we love and cherish gather to share a meal and make unforgettable memories. The food seems to taste even better when it’s enjoyed around a beautifully set table. Have you decided how you will dress your table to showcase your special meal this year?
My dear, talented friend Jen of Decor Gold Designs and I, have teamed up to bring you two tablescapes to inspire your Thanksgiving table this year.
For my table this year, I went with a simplistic, elegant style. I wanted the beautiful linens to create a canvas for a moody centerpiece, creating traditional Thanksgiving tablescape.
Whenever I set a table I think of 3 important elements…
- The Centerpiece
- The Place Setting
- The Linens
Since Thanksgiving is such a special event, I wanted my centerpiece to be equally special. I will be sharing a full tutorial on how to make this centerpiece later this week. To create an extra special arrangement, try doing what I did.
I searched on Pinterest (you can find me on Pinterest here), for some inspiration. Once I found my inspiration photo. I went to the flower market, you can visit your local grocery store too, and I selected the flowers to create my arrangement. Do this a few days before Thanksgiving so your flowers stay fresh.
When you think about your place setting, remember to choose pieces that will compliment your centerpiece. Since I wanted my centerpiece to be the main focus on my table, I chose white plates for my place setting.
Remember it is totally fine to mix silver and gold on the table! I used gold flatware and candlesticks. Then mixed in silver napkin rings and a silver cake stand for the centerpiece to stand on.
To tie the centerpiece to the place setting, a mini velvet pumpkin was placed in the center of each plate. These velvet pumpkins are the most luxurious I’ve seen.
More velvet pumpkins were nestled on top of a bed of silver sage on our bar cart to add a pop of color to the corner of the room. I showed Daria, the owner of Hot Skwash, my floral inspiration and she created pumpkins that matched perfectly with my color scheme. You can get some for your table here.
The linens are the subtle show stopper on the table. They add to the elegant feel of the centerpiece without over shadowing it. Since the color scheme I choose for the linens is so neutral, the ruffles add texture, giving the table interest without adding more color.
The linens are all gorgeous, Belgium linen from Pom Pom at Home. Pom Pom at Home’s linens are heirloom pieces that add an understated opulence to your table. They give the perfect touch to this traditional Thanksgiving tablescape {click on the photos below to shop}.
Remember to think about your centerpiece, place setting and linens when you are dressing your Thanksgiving table this year! Check back later this week for a tutorial on how to recreate my centerpiece for your table.
One important piece of info I almost forgot to mention, THIS IS THE ADULT TABLE!!! My children’s Thanksgiving table will be coming later this week! Kid’s need to have more fun than this table allows!
