Christmas Home Tour 2017 – Silver and Gold Christmas

Happy Christmas Season everyone! This Christmas Home Tour post is my favorite post of the year! Decorating your home for the holidays is a true labor of love! My mom and dad always went all out transforming our home into a Christmas wonderland. I’ve tried to do the same for our family. It’s a lot of work, but there is something magical about trimming the whole house in the spirit of Christmas.

My Grandma taught me that your should sprinkle holiday decor in every room of your home. She would change out her hand towels in the bathroom and add garlands to the mirrors. No room was left unnoticed. Being in her home made me happy and want to spread that happiness to others.

My Mom inherited that same love for decorating. One of my fondest Christmas memories as a girl was helping my mom pull out the Christmas boxes. She would let me help her fill each room with the magic of Christmas. So I have gained a love of Christmas decor from my sweet Mom and Grandma. As you read through the post, I hope you feel inspired to add some Christmas magic to your home. Whether it be in one room or many, may the magic of Christmas fill your home this season!

Christmas Home Tour 2017 - Silver and Gold Christmas

It is nice to keep your porch the same color scheme as the inside of your home so the outside flows into the inside. Since our home is mostly silvers and golds, our porch was trimmed with gold lanterns, golden twinkly lights and topped off with a silver and gold wreath.

Christmas Home Tour 2017 - Silver and Gold Christmas Christmas Home Tour 2017 - Silver and Gold Christmas

I have more bottle brush trees and ornaments than any sane person should have! So I like to group them together in little vignettes all over the house. Try using pretty urns or bowls to hold collections of your favorite ornaments. Tie some ribbon on a few to coordinate with your Christmas color scheme. You can swap the ribbon out each year to keep it looking fresh!

Blue and white isn’t just for the summer! It can look very Christmasy! Just add some silver and gold garland, with a few bottle brush trees! My parent’s home is filled with blue and white Spode and ginger jars. Having the blue and white out makes me feel like they are here!

Our little den is such a cozy little room. The kids do most of their computer work in here. There isn’t room for much, so I like to add a table top tree to this room to give it some Christmas magic. Table top trees are one of the best ways to create a feeling of Christmas without a ton of work! I left our tree bare this year with a simple star on the top. Use blue and white ginger jars nestled around your room for a decorative accent. I love blue and white paired with gray! Give it a try in your home!

Just a few touches to our guest bathroom to bring in the season. Grandma will be so proud! {Bathroom sources here}

It was so fun to decorate our newly remodeled kitchen this year {see the transformation here}!!!! For the kitchen table, I used some silver Christmas tree picks as a centerpiece in my favorite ginger jars. Picks don’t have to just be used on the tree! They can create a dramatic and simple centerpiece. Tie some ribbon and jingle bells around the top of your jars to complete the look. Our gold lanterns were trimmed with fir garland clippings. The bar stools each were tied with a bottle brush wreath, champagne bow and glittered jingle bells.
It’s just not Christmas without a coconut cake! Use your favorite baked goods as decor! For this delicious Coconut Cake recipe click here. I love to hang my favorite ornaments in various places around our house. Here I tied 3 wreath ornaments together with ribbon and attached it to my Mora clock with a safety pin. Candles and votives create such a magical ambience. Use them in your kitchen! The area above my stove needed a little something. A Command Hook holds a plain wreath I spruced up with some ornaments and a bow. I don’t use my back burners very often, but if I did, I would remove the wreath to make sure we didn’t have more flames in the kitchen than just from the candles!!!!

Our family room is my favorite room at Christmas time! It’s where we spend almost every minute of the day as a family. This year it looks totally different because of our recent room remodel. You can see the before and after here. I kept with the silver and gold theme from the rest of the house. Silver and gold is such a classic Christmas theme. It reminds me of glistening snow! Little touches like a beautiful throw, {this pom pom one is my new favorite}, help warm up any room. Here is another plain wreath transformed with ornaments and a bow.
Pretty packages tied with gorgeous ribbon add pizzaz to your tree. New wrapping paper is such an inexpensive way to add color and pattern to your Christmas decor.Our 9ft flocked Christmas tree is trimmed with white and gold and gray poinsettias. I always start with my large mercury glass ornaments and fill the tree in with smaller, special ornaments. This year, white and gold balls from a local store were my inspiration pieces. Choose a fun ribbon as a gorgeous finishing accent to your tree. I like to add my ribbon last. You end up using less ribbon and can fill in any holes you see in the tree. Watch for my tree trimming tutorial coming next week!

A Christmas Nativity can always be found in our home. We have many special ones we have collected over the years.  This year, I am displaying this soft toned Nativity from a shopping trip with my parents and sister. It will always hold a special memory for me. It’s beauty needs no trimmings. Our Savior’s birth was simple, this is a beautiful reminder to me of the true meaning of Christmas.  Of all the Christmas decorations I have, I do not have one flocked garland!!!! When pulling out decor for the mantel, I realized there was nothing to put on the mantel that matched the flocked tree. Not wanting to buy ONE MORE THING, I dug through my boxes and found a silver glitter garland. Adding poinsettias and ornaments from the tree made this puny little garland sing, and it didn’t cost me a penny!

To tie in some bling from the tree, I added some ribbon to a few of our stockings. Our stockings are hung with these awesome stocking hooks . I found last year. They slide right on the mantel!

    This is absolutely positively stunning!!! Most beautiful Christmas decor come together I’ve ever seen, truly! May I ask what the warmer time wall color is on the walls? BMoore Bone white maybe? We are painting 80% of our home soon and I feel stuck in that warm neutral color to do throughout!

    Your house is stunning! Wow…I am SO glad you have the Nativity in your home, angels and a picture of our Blessed Savior… I for one am not ashamed to admit the ‘new’ idea of how to decorate a house for Christmas-with Santa, Trees, stockings, snowmen, Anything but the Christ-Child scene saddens and sickens me. Maybe I Am old-but if we ‘throw away’ our culture, our faith and who we are —-so that we don’t ‘offend’…what is left? Thank you for your beauty-inside and out. Merry Christmas!
